With the help of the SEC committee, USC students and other organizations that have volunteered, participants are grateful to be a part of the event.[1]. Within the last four years, Zeta Phi Rho has adopted Habitat for Humanity (HfH) as its All-Chapter Benefit Charity. Zeta Phi Rho focuses on raising cultural awareness with the Philip Vera Cruz/Cesar Chavez March (Alpha chapter, 2008) and the "Raise the Roof" Benefit Concert (Alpha chapter, 2008) for Gawad Kalinga, a philanthropic organization aimed at ending the worldwide poverty. This fraternity focuses on developing a diverse group of brothers committed to its philosophy - commitment to character, leadership, academics, and the community. As FLOR, these ladies discussed and developed ideas as to what they wanted FLOR to represent on the campus. The fraternity holds various philanthropies for the community such as SmokeOut At The Beach (Alpha Chapter, 2007) in an effort to raise awareness to the dangers of smoking, "Boot Camp" (Zeta Chapter, 2010) a philanthropy dedicated to supporting children diagnosed with HIV, and "Zeta Phi Skid Rho" (Gamma Chapter, 2001–Present) providing food for the homeless in the Skid Row area located in downtown Los Angeles. Chapters running from Alpha Rho to Gamma Gamma were acquired when Alpha Kappa Pi merged with Alpha Sigma Phi and are listed with their chartering dates as Alpha Kappa Pi chapters. Being that this was the only dorm with the most Latina/os, fifteen to be exact, this was significant due to the grim reality that Latina/os made up only 12% of the student population.  After two years and a half, Phi Lambda Rho, Zeta Chapter was finally established on May 15, 2011 with 11 Founding sisters. They got in contact with Nidia and asked about her experiences in the organization. In particular, Laura had been contemplating on joining a sorority on campus. This fraternity focuses on developing a diverse group of brothers committed to its philosophy - commitment to character, leadership, academics, and the community. "Zeta Phi Skid Rho," organized by the brothers at USC Gamma Chapter, annually results in the participation of well over one hundred students and dozens of student organizations from many Southern California universities. After learning about these organizations, she came to the realization that those organizations did not embody the ideals she was looking for. This was the first event of its kind, with multiple organizations across the UCLA campus participating in a friendly competition. Other events include speaker events and fundraisers garnering awareness and funds for the homelessness epidemic in Los Angeles and at large.[2]. Just For Fun Working with the student volunteers, over five thousand sandwiches are prepared for the homeless in conjunction with the Midnight Mission and Union Rescue Mission. On Friday, March 28, 2014, University of Southern California's Zeta Phi Rho has once again taking Zeta Phi "Skid" Rho to another level, by making 17,341 sandwiches under one hour, and breaking a Guinness world record at the same time. The genius idea to establish an additional Chicana/Latina sorority on the UCI campus happened in Jardin, where Laura Ulloa proposed the idea to Erika Santacruz and Jacqueline Fuentes. The idea sounded a bit extreme and one that required a lot of work. It all began March 2009 in the Jardin dorm located in Mesa Court. Events hosted to benefit HfH include an All-chapter Halloween Party (2004), Charity Poker Tournament (Beta chapter, 2006), Talent Show (Irvine chapter, 2006), & House Warming Party (Epsilon chapter, 2006). Other events include speaker events and fundraisers garnering awareness and funds for the homelessness epidemic in Los Angeles and at large.[2]. Together, they came to realize that they all wanted to strive for women empowerment and create a space that would allow women to grow professionally, academically, as well as socially. After two years and a half, Phi Lambda Rho, Zeta Chapter was finally established on May 15, 2011 with 11 Founding sisters. To name a few, FLOR held a display board about Mujeres de Juarez and participated in community service projects such as Women’s Day of Self Esteem. Today, Sigma Phi Rho Fraternity, Incorporated mission is to maintain our existence by providing positive fraternal experience, supporting the development and growth in its members, and contributing to community through service. In addition, the lack of options, at the time there were only two Latina based sororities, inspired Laura to establish an additional sorority to complement and validate the richness and diversity there are in Latinas. Another recent example of such cultural awareness as well as doing good for the community is demonstrated by the "Blu Carpet Affair" film festival, with all the proceeds donated to the Children of Uganda through Invisible Children (Eta Chapter, 2008).
